Jerri and Parah's 50th Wedding Anniversary

Their sons' and daughter-in-laws' hosted Jerri and Parahs' 50th Anniversary and chose Cedar Lake Cellars knowing how much the couple love the winery and that the winery happens to be owned by the couple's close friends, Carl and Gabriella Bolm.

The party was held in the Big Red Barn's bar and loft space which features an expansive deck with views of the lake, and beautiful sunsets! A great opportunity for casual group shots.

Speeches along with a slide show commemorating Parah and Jerri through their five decades was a highlight of the evening.

The interior was lovingly decorated with twinkle lights on every surface. Table tops featured florals, photos and a newsprint with 1971 headlines.

Their story begins in 1970 where they both attended SouthEast Missouri State. Parah's Resident Advisor her freshman year holds the credit for this successful marriage, her RA happened to be a friend from childhood of Jerri's. The RA and Jerri had planned to hang out one evening, as the good friends they were, only the RA had to cancel. In her stead, she encouraged Jerri to take out Parah on a blind date. In romance comedies they call this a "meet cute," and after their first blind date the couple was inseparable. A year later Jerri proposed, stating, "We might as well just get married." And so on September 8, 1971 they did.

In fact, September 8 has become a tradition for weddings in this family. Both sons' married on September 8: Clark and Amber in 2012 followed by Grant and Kate in 2021--only 2 days before the 50th anniversary party!

Cedar Lake Cellars was a lovely background to celebrate 50 years of marriage for this couple that was "just meant to be."
